I’ve come to that point again in the year where one longs for a break. A quick getaway. A quick weekend trip maybe to the beach with a cooler full of beer and bbq and sisig. No worries. No clients, no pressure to sell. Nothing. Find a good book and start the journey. Play some chillax tunes and your good to go. Bring along some good friends who are game to just relax and have fun. I know its weird to want such a break during the height of the rainy season, but think about it. Cheaper rates, less people, just you, the sand, the sea, and your trusty San Mig light. If luck permits then hello sunshine right?

Its been one helluva a week. Late nights, overtime, traffic, all these get to you. Some days, I don’t even want to get up from bed. But even on weekends I find myself drawn to work and check how my banners and client is doing. As much as they took a gamble in advertising with us, I myself personally want them to do better. You see, I’m in the business of advertising. Selling ad space on our network to clients who may want to tap the vast potential of the interweb. It seems weird to sell a product as intangible as the internet and unique views, but believe me its even hard when the money involved range from 100,000 pesos up to 800,000 depending on the budget and requirements of the client. I’m still learning. Its going to be my 4th month here and so far I have no qualms. I’ve sold my fair amount. I’m still learning. Finding my way through the industry. I really like this industry. Surrounded by goal oriented people who at the same time balance PR and images and the same drive to sell or succeed help me become as driven like them as well. I was a bit apprehensive at first to come and work here since it was sales oriented but now I am enjoying the challenge. Compared with my old job, I am more driven and goal-oriented now.

I find it funny how I ended up here. I never thought I would be able to make it into the industry, much more be able to sell. To all those who are a bit worried about graduation because of the course they took, I tell you I am amazed at the diversity of people in the industry. The best thing I learned in collage was not necessarily the lessons, but rather how I coped with the pressure and how to think on my feet. You know those Oral exams where you had no idea what the answer was, and so you made up stuff and delivered it with enough conviction to seem like you know what you are talking about? Super useful!

Soo…. Beach anyone?

Just a quick post. I just had to say it. After work, Alvin passed by for me and invited me to have dinner at Mister Kebab at West Avenue. We left BHS (Bonifacio High Street, The Fort) at 7:45 PM. After 2 1/2 hours of driving, (I offered to drive since it was his car) we arrive at a little past 10 PM at Mister Kebab. To make matters worse, it was a long LONG waiting list. It took us 30 mins before we could actually sit down and order. All that for a 20 minute meal.

We got to talk a lot about the business though. So it was kind of worth it.

Just wanted to share the drive home.

*all photos in this post are not mine. They were taken from the interweb. I used them for illustrative purposes only. I mean who wants to read a blog with no pictures?!
