We’ve all heard it before. From the countless HIMYM references to Barney’s image popping in my head everytime I hear it. But today was legen-wait for it-dary.

I was awake even before my alarm sounded off. (I don’t know. I tend to anticipate my alarms as of late.) I quickly laced up my Adidas shoes and track pants, put on a white cotton shirt and started to do my stretching. I searched for my favorite black Adidas jacket as I’ve decided to run with a jacket on. Loaded the podcast for the training program Wil recommended for me and a few minutes later, after a few facebook updates and twitter and plurk shouts, I was out the door. At least this time I was really eager to get it going.

I was committed to run the entire 4.7km route. No excuses. (One of the reasons I love the route is that its a no turning back route. You have to finish it all the way to get back to my car!) Although the program takes 20 mins I had to double it since it only got me half way. With the 5 min cooldown it was just about right. Those guys at http://coolrunners.com really have a good program for beginner runners like me.

All I could say for the 40+ min run is that I really enjoyed it. I got the breathing down as well as my stride. It wasn’t a particularly fast stride but it works for me and as I build up my time I know it’ll get better. Patience is key and perseverance the secret. I am excited for tomorrows run. I will try to increase the speed of the run or jog gradually. I really don’t like the first 20 mins because my breathing is all screwed up. But at the latter part of the jog, say the last 2 kms I really can push and even jogged at an incline for the last few meters.

For day 2 of what I am calling now as Project:Carlos I think I did pretty ok. (The end goal of Project:Carlos is to be able to climb Mount Pulag or run one of those popular runs.) Here are my stats.

Total Distance: 4.78 kms

Total Time: 46 mins 51 secs

Avg. Speed: 6.13 km/h

And now for my Adidas wish list: (I think this will be a regular thing until they just have to give me some free stuff!)

I got the picture of the Adidas stuff off the internet. I actually have the similar jacket. I just need 4-5 pairs of those jogging pants. I’ve also decided to run with jogging pants instead. I really don’t like how the cold weather will makes me sweat less.

As far as I can remember, I’ve been chubby. I am chubby. For a brief time I took up running in college I actually lost a lot weight. But due to circumstances I had to stop and I ballooned up again. (Final paper and comps killed my running sched!) Since I am also starting a new chapter in my life I’ve decided to start running again. I’ve found a running route near my place as well as a running buddy. Although she runs like an iron woman and basically leaves me behind within the first few minutes! My secret goal is to finally run at pace with her! (Ok so its not a secret anymore, but I’m competitive that way!) We’ve worked out a 4km and 7km route. But for now I’m sticking with the 4km route until I can run that at ease. The program is a 9 week program called C25k and hopefully by the 9th week I’ll be fit enough to run 5km in 30 mins. It gradually introduces running to your body until your muscles and bones are strong enough to withstand the rigors of running.

Who say’s running shouldn’t be done in style? I am now actually looking at some brands for apparel and of course shoes. Since I am a huge Adidas fan, I am looking at getting some Adi-Zero Shoes.

Really nice right? *ahem Maris* I will be blogging about my journey to lose all this stupid fat and what better way than with Adidas! I am also looking at a wind jacket since jogging at 4:30AM in the morning is not really with the warmest weather and since my jog takes 45mins to an hour the build up of sweat on my shirt really is bad for my health. So along with my Adidas Adi-Zero shoes I think I might get an Adidas Adi-Zero Wind Jacket as well. Over at Adidas, they definitely know what they are talking about when it comes to running and getting and staying in shape.

There are also the minor things like climacool shirts as well as some jogging pants and shorts but those are really incidentals which I might opt to get somewhere cheaper since I have to get a lot. (But hey if Adidas wants to give me some apparel then hello spokesperson! LOL)

My route is a 4km route from my place and around greenhills and back. I jog usually at 430AM based on my running buddy’s recommendation since there are less cars at around that time. I will be tracking my progress on my blog and will be posting my times as well as distance. I will gradually increase distance to 7km once the 4km run has been conquered.

Wish me luck guys!
