Today is day 3 of Project:Carlos and guess what I almost missed waking up! Stupid phone didn’t alarm. Lesson of the day, use the alarm and not the calendar function on my phone to wake me up! I woke up 15 mins later than usual. Thank God my body knows I should be awake already by 430! I rushed everything! I put on shoes, and out the door with just a towel, my Adidas jacket and trainers, jogging pants, wallet, and keys. Getting at Wil’s place I noticed that she wasn’t out yet so I did my stretching and stuff until I got a text from her saying..

“are you running today?”

Fuuuu I forgot to text her that I was outside. Today was a very rushed day for me. I quickly replied that I was outside and in 2-3 mins she was outside already. She started talking to me about reading my blog and stuff up until we started our warm-up jog. I realized though when we started the full jog and I began my c25k program that I forgot to click start at the start of my workout program on my blackberry! Dammit! Stupid me. That’s why my distance and time were all screwed up.

I did notice quite a number of cars today as I struggled to overhear my podcast tell me when to run and when to walk. It was quite annoying and I resolved to bring earphones next time even though most of the time I could hear nothing. I tried increasing my pace but my breathing was off today. I also noticed a crazy man along Wilson St which I was half praying wouldn’t start running after me because I didn’t think I could outrun him. On the way back he was more active walking along the streets so I stretched out my 1 min interval of walking and running and actually half sprinted away from him. I did notice though he was a tidy man. Picking up litter along his curb and throwing them at the trash can nearby.

According to my GPS and sportypal.com’s program, today I ran:

Total Distance: 4.4km

Total Time: 43 mins and 55 secs

Avg Speed: 6.07 km/h

Not improving yet, but I’m excited for the weekend run since embs is running with me! I hope I last with this program. I like how attainable each week is and how driven it has maken me. The sleepy part I noticed came very late in the day. Around 8 pm me thinks. Which was just right since I got enough sleep today!

I might not update this on every run (only if something interesting happens) but I will be sure to upload my weekly progress via the sportypal.com application which lets me keep track of my runs,

As for today’s Adidas wishlist, I want this Adidas running belt. I want to carry water since my throat gets uber dry when I run. I think Wil is asking me to check if Adidas has one too. She wants a place to put her iPhone, water, towel, keys and maybe water as well. I’ll ask them during the meeting on Tuesday!

We’ve all heard it before. From the countless HIMYM references to Barney’s image popping in my head everytime I hear it. But today was legen-wait for it-dary.

I was awake even before my alarm sounded off. (I don’t know. I tend to anticipate my alarms as of late.) I quickly laced up my Adidas shoes and track pants, put on a white cotton shirt and started to do my stretching. I searched for my favorite black Adidas jacket as I’ve decided to run with a jacket on. Loaded the podcast for the training program Wil recommended for me and a few minutes later, after a few facebook updates and twitter and plurk shouts, I was out the door. At least this time I was really eager to get it going.

I was committed to run the entire 4.7km route. No excuses. (One of the reasons I love the route is that its a no turning back route. You have to finish it all the way to get back to my car!) Although the program takes 20 mins I had to double it since it only got me half way. With the 5 min cooldown it was just about right. Those guys at http://coolrunners.com really have a good program for beginner runners like me.

All I could say for the 40+ min run is that I really enjoyed it. I got the breathing down as well as my stride. It wasn’t a particularly fast stride but it works for me and as I build up my time I know it’ll get better. Patience is key and perseverance the secret. I am excited for tomorrows run. I will try to increase the speed of the run or jog gradually. I really don’t like the first 20 mins because my breathing is all screwed up. But at the latter part of the jog, say the last 2 kms I really can push and even jogged at an incline for the last few meters.

For day 2 of what I am calling now as Project:Carlos I think I did pretty ok. (The end goal of Project:Carlos is to be able to climb Mount Pulag or run one of those popular runs.) Here are my stats.

Total Distance: 4.78 kms

Total Time: 46 mins 51 secs

Avg. Speed: 6.13 km/h

And now for my Adidas wish list: (I think this will be a regular thing until they just have to give me some free stuff!)

I got the picture of the Adidas stuff off the internet. I actually have the similar jacket. I just need 4-5 pairs of those jogging pants. I’ve also decided to run with jogging pants instead. I really don’t like how the cold weather will makes me sweat less.
