Macro Sunday

After what seemed like an eternity this week I was finally able to go out and shoot. My weekend was full of shooting! From Food to Macro bugs it is safe to say, that my shots were very diverse. I also got a chance to test-run my lights before my big shoots this week. I learned where to place the lights and where to place the different foam boards to get the optimum bounce for the lights. I think I really will get the lumopro LP-120. I’ve decided to sell my flash already. So goodbye sb-600! I’ve really decided to focus on certain aspects of photography to streamline my gear. My blog is fast growing as I’ve received a couple of invites not only to feature their restos but also to shoot some menus as well. I really think I am on my way to developing what could be a life-long career and relationship with this hobby of mine. I have found where I belong and this time I will be sticking to it. Here are some of the shots I took during my macro photowalk with Maki.

During the photowalk, I taught Maki about reverse ring photography. I was a bit uneasy since it wasn’t an aspect I thought she would enjoy. She didn’t like insects to begin so I was a bit worried she won’t enjoy. But happily at the end of the day she was more addicted to Insektography than me. She vows to come back another day.

Shots from the day:

Transforming Turtoise Beetle

Grass Spider

Close-Up Fly

Close-Up Fly

Fly A Day

Dual Spider

Dragonfly

Unknown Bug

Since this post has become excessively long due to the pictures, I will be posting part two of the Macro Sunday tom. For part two, I decided to play around with my friends 80-200 lens and shoot birds. I took photos of the new Philippine Eagle which in all its awesomeness was really grand and majestic. I’m looking forward next weekend when I visit my old stomping grounds for insects at the La Mesa Ecopark. I haven’t been there for quite some time and I’m really excited to come up with some amazing finds.
