Zulu Grill

Rarely do I post a food entry or rather NEVER will I post a food entry on this blog. But this one has a special place in my heart. I neither let you know whether the food was great or what I thought of the food on this blog because this is not the place nor the blog to talk about such things. What I do want to talk about is the Man behind Zulu Grill.

Kirk Damasco was a simple guy coming out of Iloilo for college to take up his management course at Ateneo about 5 years ago. After the pre-requisite ORSEM which we all had to endure, I remember sitting beside this shy young guy, wearing glasses. Our very first class of our college journey would be Chemistry class. It was with Mr. Macahig.

As we sat in silence, I turned to Kirk observing him for quite some time and wanting to make my very first non-Ateneo HS (I came from Ateneo GS & HS) friend in college. We started light chit-chat. Basically we got the minor thins out of the way like name, course, hoemtown where he staying etc. I then asked Kirk what his biggest fear/apprehension was entering college at Ateneo. He turned to me and said, coming from the province my biggest worry would not be the tests, the workload, nor would it be the teachers. My biggest apprehension would be if he could make friends because of the difference in cultures.

Fast forward 5 years. Kirk is the man behind the hit shirts like Ang Sarap Maging Atenista, I <3 Ateneo , and other shirts we see so often during the UAAP Games. He recognizes that the brand Ateneo is not only for Ateneans that is why he has a disclaimer “to all ateneans & those who love the Ateneo…” He left his corporate job at a multinational to do business and is now living one part of my dream.

He has a restaurant located at Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig. It is called Zulu Grill. If you ever tried the JSEC Liempo, you can find it here! Here are some of the food fares they carry.
