Tastespotting.com Thank you!

I’ve been very passionate about my photography for the past year or so, and only recently have I actually tried to become a food photography. I love food. I love photography. It was only a matter or time before I actually merged these two interests together! I never really have studied photography. You see this is the process for me. I look at something. I get a mental image on how the thing should look or how I would like to immortalize that image. I would have loved to be able to draw. But I can’t. Photography was the next best thing. The way the light falls on the subject, and how it illuminates the subject and gives it so much more character. I could go on and on but that is a subject for another post.

The other day I decided to submit my photo to a FOOD PORN website. Yes, I said PORN. You see Food Porn is a site where people upload photos of food and other users indulge their sinful cravings for food without actually eating. I chanced upon the site www.tastespotting.com from http://www.foodbloggersunite.com. I have my other blog at http://foodiemanila.com where I try to just chronicle the food that I find most interesting. I do not claim to have a vast knowledge on food and the different tastes but rather I am a staunch believer of the saying “you are the food you eat!” and this is my attempt to discover who I am. Anyway, I digress. You see the quality of the photos at the site are astonishing. I never really believed I would make it. They styling, the lighting, the composition, they were all at the highest caliber. I thought I would not make it.

But today, when I checked my traffic for Foodie Manila I was really surprised to get 300+ visits just for today! I checked my analytics and they all came from tastespotting! I quickly click the link and lo-and-behold, my photo made it! This really made my day! It may be no big deal but it further re-affirmed me that indeed I do have talent. You know, as bad as it sounds, sometimes a little validation really gets you out of a rut. (despite it coming from some website that I never heard off before!)

Screen shot 2009-12-06 at 8.33.01 PMThat’s my photo right there! That is soooo cool! I just had to share!

Thank you tastespotting! I will definitely be uploading more photos!
