The 40-year-old Car

My car has been with me for almost 3 years now. I’ve had my occasional hiccups during our entire relationship but in general I’m happy with it. Like all relationships, you are bound to run into snags. The occasional frustrations of it being an old car are always there. But I think what is important is how you handle these “frustrations”. Admittedly, sometimes I’d rather give up and take a cab instead of actually trying to fix my car. Taking the easy way out is I think the term. I just realize in the end, I suffer the most because of the bad weather, unreliable taxi’s in Metro Manila, and other variables that are not in my head right now.

But today was not such a day. Nothing was particularly wrong with my car. It was actually running smoothly. I noticed though that my tires were being eaten up from the inside of the tread. Which means the camber alignment was not proper. Anyway to make a long story short, I had my tires rotated, just so I won’t run the risk of exploding tires on my way home. Maybe I’m learning the value of preventive measures instead of fixing what is broken? That took up most of my morning. No I was not late for work, but it was something I told myself I would do.

My car is 40 years old. According to the manufacturer’s date, the engine was made 1969. The body admittedly is only half that age. (I had to do a transplant of the engine) I love my car. I prefer driving it than any of the other cars in our house.

*I’ll post more pictures later, its too hot to go outside and take snapshots.*

So, what do you think?
