Surprise! Happy Birthday Patty

9.22.09 Happy Birthday Patty.) My officemates decided to surprise her with a cake. Black Forrest Cake from Red Ribbon with 25 “magic candles”. (Ok more on that later)

After lunch we set up the cake in the pantry, but because of poor planning and coordination, Mikey ended up calling Patty a wee bit early and she saw the cake. I then blurted out, “wow Patty, you and Sir Jay have the same birthday!” (first thing that came to my mind, haha…) So we finished setting up the candles and lighting them. (I just realized that lighting 25 candles ain’t easy!) And because I took so long, the other candles were burning out quickly and started giving sparks! (Note to Self: Next time make sure to use only one magic candle) The cake looked like it was on fire! We were so worried that the smoke would hit the smoke detectors and turn the sprinklers on. It was funny.

With the benefit of hindsight, maybe lighting 25 “magic candles” (the kind that doesn’t go out with one blow) wasn’t such a great idea. Watch the video, its hilarious. Alot of people shouting at the celebrant to blow out the candles because the sprinklers might go off!
