TGIF! What a way to end the week!

There are just those days in your life that you hate. Today was NOT like that at all. What a way to end a work week.

I was at my desk when my co-worker Judd asked if I could help him get a new external HDD. He needed to transfer all his files because he is getting a new laptop upgrade. (For free might I add)

So we left for Gilmore to go in search for a good deal. We got him a 320GB HDD by Western Digital.

On our way back a client of his called and said that the event was going to push through. Having a need to bring some bloggers, I said I would go and cover the event. (ok at this point I was already feeling awesome)

We arrived at the venue kind of late and didn’t make it to the press conference. (We were considered press btw) I just got a shot of the Japanese Champion drifter Nobuteru Taniguchi.

There would be a demo shortly afterwards. I quickly ran out and got a good position. I took some shots of the cars that were on display thinking this was just a display of the cars they use in actual drift competitions.
(I was so pleasantly wrong!)

First up was, female driver Pia Boren. I was amazed at how the cars would slide past us with ease. They seem to be out of control and at the last minute would flip it back into the other side and slide past another barricade.

Celebrity driver Gabby Dela Merced was also there drifiting. She was awesome on the track. Showing full control over her car.

Last to go was 4 time drift champion Alex Perez. He whipped out his blue skyline (I LOVE THIS CAR) and proceeded to impress the crowd! He even crawled out of his car while it was sliding sideways!

Here’s Lateral Drift Champ Alex Perez showing why he is the champion!

Champion Drifter Nobuteru Taniguchi also showed some drifting prowess with the red mustang as his car of choice!

Photobucket

Now for the best part. They asked the media if anyone wanted to ride with Alex Perez in his Skyline. I SUPER WANTED to volunteer but was a bit hesitant. When no one else would volunteer I bravely stepped forward and had,

Shots from inside the car while drifting!

Here’s the car I rode! I took this shot AFTER!

It was pure awesome. I was thrown around a bit but it was all worth it! The best experience ever. Thanks Judd for the video.

Here’s my wild ride!

Here’s the rest of the drifting action!

Judd even managed a quick shot with Gabby Dela Merced!

The final display was something I only saw in Fast & the Furious 3. When 2 cars came out, Judd joked about Synchronized drifting, and indeed it was. Tandem Drifting!!!

Here’s a little extra for the girls:

Mr. Ryan Agoncillo

*Funny moment with Mr. Ryan Agoncillo, I was shooting the cars drifting when someone tapped me from behind. I look and see Ryan Agoncillo standing beside me. He said “Bro yung sintas mo. You might trip.” I look down and indeed my shoelaces were undone. Thanks Ryan!
and of course for the guys (albeit the cars and videos should be enough!)

Here’s the entire team!

Thanks to PLDT and watchpad for the event! One of my goals can now be checked off my bucket list. Tomorrow is the finals of the Philippine drifting championship. If you are a pldt subscriber you can watch for free online. All you gotta do is go to Watchpad and register. Its all for free!

Now if this is work, I think I’m gonna like it.
