Heritage, Boxes, Kalesas
Today it was kind of slow. After judging a 3 hour contest for 7 teams and a 3 course meal, we decided to leave early and walk around heritage area of Vigan. I wanted to find something nice for my someones mom and I’ve set my heart on getting her a box I saw before. We scoured the Crisologo street looking for the antique box that I wanted. I finally saw it and haggled for it. (Believe me I did! Thanks to the haggle ladies I was with Ms. Jenny Pena and Soccoro Llamas!) It was quite expensive as it was made out of pure Molave wood. The design was of black in lay and not just print on it. I really had to scour antique shops and I’m pretty happy with it.
As for heritage, I loved Vigan. I felt culture and history right on the streets. The main mode of transportation here in Vigan would be trycicles and kalesas. With cobblestone streets and old style houses it was beautiful. Just a bit of information the reason for the streets to be narrow is so that the buildings and houses will cast a shadow over streets no matter what time of the day. This will make the streets a lot cooler to walk around it.
